So yesterday, my son came home from school and said, 'Mommy, I learned about writing a persuasive essay today and wrote one for you.'

'Excellent, buddy, let me see it.'

Essay Title: Why We Should Get Another Dog 🐶

Mom thought: Uh, oh..we already have two and used to have three.

Dear parents,

I am writing this to you because I think we should get a new dog. Here are some reasons why.

If we get a new dog, I will go outside more and watch less TV. I will stop fighting with my sister, do all of the chores, walk, feed, and bathe the dogs.

If I get another dog, it will allow me to mature faster, take on more responsibility, and think more about how to care for other people and pets.

P.S. If you are reading this and don’t have a dog yet, you should because having a pet makes everything better.

My husband and I chuckled. Haha! That kid is gooood.

My son eagerly awaited me to be convinced right then and there. Spoiler: of course, I didn’t run out and get a third dog, but I did have to pause and celebrate how he was able to think about what might motivate someone to be open to his thoughts or requests.

Instead, he sparked a new thought: if we can’t get another dog, why not find a way to get pets into homes in shelters before Christmas?

And just like that, the theme for our 6th annual ThanksGIVING-BACK event was born!

What is the ThanksGIVING-BACK event?

While other businesses use Black Friday to boost numbers, ours have been different for the past 5 years. For every sale during the week of Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, we will make a donation to local shelters to provide for the pets in need and foster funds to help these furbabies find their forever homes.

In other words, you are giving back to those in need (animals!) while treating yourself during Black Friday.
